My First Acupuncture Treatment

Following imageis a letter I received from a client and I was asked to share it with those not knowing what to expect. I asked permission to post it:

I had been experiencing a great deal of pain in my back. I needed help but I did not want to be drugged out on pain medications. A friend of mine had suggested I go see an acupuncturist. That was the last thing I wanted to do because I am terrified of needles! I thought about it for a couple of weeks and decided I had to have some relief.

I called and made the appointment. The person I spoke with was very pleasant and helped to make me feel comfortable. I was very nervous. I think I was even more nervous when I went for my appointment! But when I showed up, once again, I was made to feel very comfortable.

I filled out the paperwork and then Margie took me back to the room. The room was nice. It didn’t seem like a doctor’s office at all. Margie went over my medical history and asked a few questions that I had never heard before, but the whole time she put me at ease. I got up on the massage table (by the way the heat was great!) and I have to admit I was scared! I braced myself for the sting and the pain and much to my surprise, there was none!

Most of the needles I barely felt. A few there was a pinch but not more than that. When the needles were in, Margie put on some soft music, which she actually gave me a choice. She tuned out the lights although there was a glow of a small night light and that was it. She placed a heat lamp over me so I was warm and toasty and then she left the room.

I was so relaxed I fell asleep! I never relax! Before I new it, it was 45 minutes later and Margie was waking me up. She took the needles out. She did a light massage on my back with liniment. I actually felt relief for the first time in a very long time!

Margie told me that I should come back because acupuncture is accumulative which means it can help with better relief as time goes on. What was said is sometimes people get instant relief and sometimes they need a few more treatments. It depends on the person, but everyone should get some benefit the first treatment.

I know that I had more mobility than I had had in a very long time. So I wanted to say thank you. I also want this to be shared with others who might have reservations about acupuncture. I was nervous and scared, but in the end it really was worth it. I wish I would have had acupuncture sooner!

Thank you for making me feel so much better!
