Infertility

Have you considered acupuncture as part of your treatment plan? I know that taking this step is exciting and yet, it can be fearful at the same time. The Chinese have used acupuncture successfully for thousands of years to reduce stress and treat reproductive issues such as infertility, irregular cycles, PMS, painful periods, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and menopausal symptoms. The advantage of combining both medical disciplines increases the chance of a successful live birth rate.

Fertility clinics add acupuncture to their practice because studies have shown that through improved blood circulation to the reproductive organs there is a provision of oxygen and nutrients to the follicle. This can lead to:Fertilization,_cleavage,_and_the_formation_of_a_blastocyst

  • Enhanced egg quality
  • Increased egg quantity
  • Increased endometrium thickness
  • Improved sperm vitality (Yes! Your significant other can benefit from a treatment, as well.)

Acupuncture reduces stress hormones and helps regulate estrogen levels. Women who have had acupuncture treatments with their IVF and IUI cycles have noticed:

  • Less anxiety and irritability
  • Relief of drug side effects
  • Less bloating

Acupuncture is very safe and does not hurt. In fact, acupuncture decreases the pain and discomfort of retrieval and the drug side effects.  We recommend using acupuncture starting a month before and leading up to the IVF transfer. We will also perform acupuncture the day of the retrieval with Electro Stimulation for pain relief, two treatments on the day of the transfer (before and after the procedure), and the first few weeks after the procedure to reduce stress in pregnancy. Once again, the benefit is to increase the chances of a successful live birth rate.

For fertility clients we keep our rates affordable. This makes acupuncture accessible for anyone wanting to include it in their treatment plan. Insurance generally does not cover it. Some patients, however, use their health savings account for treatments.
